Why Tenant Broadband?Without access to the internet, life opportunities can be lost. Whether applying for a job, buying goods at the best price, or simply completing school homework, reliable internet access at a usable speed is a requirement to participate in todays' society.
In 2010 the UK Government announced targets that all homes should have a minimum of 2Mbit Broadband connections by 2012, and faster again by 2015.
Buying Broadband is difficult for Social Housing tenants; tenures can be short, and broadband connections usually require BT landlines adding further cost and requiring suitable credit ratings. Tenants must also navigate a myriad of tariffs, setup charges, and data allowances in choosing their service. Increasingly, many tenants are forced to use slow and unreliable 3G internet services.
Social Landlords are a trusted provider for their tenants and as fixed line internet services are tied to buildings rather than people, Broadband provision is a natural service for landlords to provide to their tenants.
Clearstream Tenant Broadband Solutions (TBS) enable Landlords to provide Internet Access to tenants without investment in additional staff and systems, offering additional value to tenants and additional revenues to landlords.
Clearstream offer an uniquely broad range of internet technologies, from new BT and Virgin fibre connections to traditional broadband, bonded broadband and a wide range of ethernet based services. We also have expertise in 3G, 4G and wireless networks.
Unlike many ISP's our experience is in engineering connectivity for specific applications, and we use our long experience of connectivity to build robust centralised internet connectivity into your properties, with a secure on-site hub that provides a secure, firewalled 2Mbit internet connection for each property.
A centralised charging model to the landlord puts you in control of costs and charges, whilst Clearstream take the effort out of management and support.

Tenants credit histories or short tenure may not allow them a BT landline for traditional broadband? |
With CTB Internet access is installed centrally and shared across a range of properties, removing the need for BT lines at each property. |
|
How do we deal with Voids? |
A lower charge is applied to voids (with internet access locally disabled) to match charges with usage. |
|
What speeds are available? |
Our Tenant tariff is designed around the Governments 2Mbit speed target. There is scope within the services to increase speeds as the UK infrastructure improves. |
|
Who provides support? |
Clearstream provide all support services. We install , monitor and maintain the shared equipment, and provide telephone support services. |
|
How are landlords and tenants charged? |
We charge monthly in advance by direct debit, or quarterly in advance for other payment types, according to the number of properties with connections. Full reporting is provided. |
|
How long does CTB take to setup or cancel? |
It normally takes 6-8 weeks to install the lines and cable properties. Contracts are initially 12 month and can be cancelled with 90 days notice thereafter. |
Each internet connection is secured by market-leading SonicWALL UTM devices, providing peace of mind for you and your tenants and offering a range of optional additional services such as network based anti-virus, and remote data backup.
